Our Story

Since opening its’ doors in 1997, Comfort & Care Medical has prided itself on being a family owned and operated business. 

The seeds of the company are rooted in a Sunday morning game of cards between a mother and her two daughters.  One daughter, Mary Pat, suggested to her mother, Nancy, and to her sister, Liz, that they both join her in opening a Durable Medical Equipment company specializing in compression garments. Mary Pat, who had over a decade experience in the field, spoke confidently and passionately about their ability to make it in the industry. 

Little did the trio know that Mary Pat’s blossoming idea would one day result in their company, Comfort & Care Medical, becoming the East Coast’s leading compression garment and wound care supplier.

Heartache hit the family in June of 2000, when mother Nancy succumbed to colon cancer.  Out of love and respect, her daughters Mary Pat and Liz named the company’s private fitting room “Nancy’s Room”.  Their mother’s memory lives on through her poems, which are now affectionately displayed on the office walls.  Although Nancy did not live to see Comfort & Care Medical evolve into the successful establishment it is today, she played an integral role in helping her daughters achieve their dreams. 

Mary Pat and Liz were well aware that we aren’t always dealt the hand we desire.  In 2011, at 58 years young, Liz fell victim to Leukemia, and soon she joined her mother Nancy at the card table in the sky.  Liz continues to live on in the fond memories which Comfort & Care Medical holds dear. 

Today, Mary Pat and her daughter Jodie continue to keep the family’s dream alive!  Mary Pat and Jodie also happen to be a Survivor and Previvor team. They have dealt with some of the same struggles which our patients are faced with each and every day. 

At Comfort & Care Medical, understanding our patient’s needs has increased our ability to provide patients with the comfort and care they deserve during their time of need.
